Move Over Sambas, It's the Superstar's Time to Shine

There’s no denying it, the adidas Superstar is a certified classic, but no sneaker style is immune to the ever-changing nature of trend cycles, and it's fair to say that the shell-toed silhouette has had a quiet few years. That’s all about to change though, as the 3-Stripes is predicting big things to come for the iconic model, and others are even hinting that it could be the next adidas Samba.

Now, you might remember the Superstar’s last real revival back around 2015, which was spurred on by the German giant’s appointment of Pharrell Williams and his 50-colourway-strong adidas Supercolour collection. However, the shoe’s roots within the hip-hop scene run far deeper than this, dating back to the days of Run DMC and the Beastie Boys, and therefore paving the way for all the sneaker-rapper partnerships we see today. Needless to say though, the shoe’s influence transcends the genre, with touchpoints in basketball, skateboarding and the streetwear scene.

It would be fair to say though, that the adidas Superstar wouldn’t have achieved the same highs had it not been for its super-clean design in the first place.
