New Balance is bringing a fresh perspective to the Lunar New Year sneakers in 2025. While Nike is celebrating the occasion with bolder releases like the Dunk Low “Year of the Snake” and Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Snake CNY,” New Balance opts for a more low key look with its Lunar New Year rendition of the New Balance 1000.

Instead of heavily leaning into “Year of the Snake” motifs, New Balance presents a refined homage to the Lunar New Year, drawing subtle inspiration from moon phases. This thoughtful design choice infuses the sneaker with a sense of elegance and timelessness, making it just as wearable beyond the festivities.

The New Balance 1000, one of the brand’s most sought after silhouettes, has been steadily gaining traction since its return and shows no signs of slowing down. Its inclusion in the Lunar New Year collection is likely to bolster its rising popularity even further.

This latest iteration of the 1000 boasts a clean, minimalist black and white colour scheme. The dual layered mesh upper combines white and black tones, while premium jet black leather and nubuck overlays elevate the overall design.
