It’s no secret that jelly shoes have been making a comeback this year. It doesn’t surprise us that brands have been venturing into the world of jelly shoes, but we’re not gonna lie, seeing that New Balance is dropping these jelly shoes did shock us a little bit.
@chlodavie
Jelly flats, heels and sandals have been coming in hot this summer, with a range of fun silhouettes and colours. Content creators have been picking up the Chloé jelly mules and the Ganni x Melissa collab, all the cool girls are wearing mesh-style jelly flats (there’s so many options from ASOS, H&M, Steve Madden, and more), jelly flip flops and the viral Skims see-through jelly shoes. The concept is so fun and chic, adding some whimsy to your wardrobe but still keeping things elevated. You can honestly wear them everywhere, and because they’re waterproof whatever happens, you’re good – whether you’re at the beach, out at the pub or on a night out.

Jelly shoes by Chloé and Melissa we were expecting, but New Balance took us by surprise. NB truly said “let’s do something unhinged” in the best way. We’ve only gotten a small teaser in these two pictures, and the only thing we know is that the brand is set to release these jelly mules in 2027, but we couldn’t be more excited. The shape is sleek and minimal, and the lime green is such a cool pop of colour.

Although it may seem weird at first that New Balance is coming out with jelly shoes, if you think about it, it actually makes so much sense. New Balance doesn’t shy away from a hybrid silhouette, pioneering the “snoafer” (sneaker/loafer hybrid) movement, and also recently dropping the NB 1890A sneakers – a crossover between a moccasin and a runner. Its new jelly mules are just another venture into fun and interesting silhouettes. We’ll keep you updated when we know more details on these.
