Let’s get one thing straight, women have been wearing Air Max 95s for decades. It’s easy to assume that the 110 is a shoe for guys, but take a closer look and you’ll find that women have been repping the Max 95 for just as long.

Everyone remembers the viral moment of Kim Kardashian wearing the “Pink Foam” and seems to think that was the benchmark moment for girls wearing Air Max, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
A quick search in the photo archives and you’ll notice ladies wearing 110s here, there and everywhere. You’ll spot girls rocking them at Notting Hill Carnival back in the early 2000s, the Spice girls lacing them to red carpet events and even on the feet of models backstage at the Victoria Secret show (shoutout the iconic photo of Beverly Peele in the “OG Neon”).

So, Kim K’s Air Max 95 outfit was definitely not the start of women wearing this iconic Nike, but it did help spur the conversation.

Oh, and of course, let’s not forget Bella Hadid’s ‘Homeboy’ moment on Complex Sneaker Shopping which only gave the AM95 more cultural kudos.

If you want a snapshot of how the girls were putting together some seriously late ‘90s ‘fits in the Air Max 95s, then @no.idea.is.original is the best place to go. Omar and the page is single handedly correcting the narrative when it comes to sneakers, one of those being that women have been making the 110 look cool for years!
If you take a look at the Air Max 95 Women’s colourways that were available back in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, it was mostly lighter palettes such as the “Pool Blue”, “Grape” and “Slate” editions. This means that had the “Fresh Mint” arrived earlier than it did in 2009, you’d have definitely spotted some 35mm photos in the catalogue.

Here we've styled the Air Max 95 "Fresh Mint" with baggy military cargos and a retro track jacket from the Swoosh - pre the vintage Nike logo. By keeping the outfit on the darker side, the fresh mint accents hit that much more. Plus, a military print and 110s always seem to go hand-in-hand.
Now it’s hitting the JD shelves for only the third time ever, it is the perfect time to pick up a pair and add to the ever expanding photo library of girls wearing the 110.
