If we have the same algorithm, you might also be getting a lot of ‘90s and y2k athleisure on your Pinterest. Our FYPs are currently filled with capris, yoga pants, layered tank tops, mismatched sets and retro sneaker silhouettes.

And brands have been clocking to the trend, bringing out 2000s-inspired workout gear and sneakers. Nike only released the Air Max Moto 2k last year – a remake of the 2008 Air Max Moto+ 6 – an early 2000s dad shoe-inspired running silhouette which follows the normcore aesthetic. Its unisex shape is a fun juxtaposition to the hyper-feminine vintage athleisure we’ve been seeing, so we thought to fuse the two different y2k styles in a few different ways. We have picked out the shoe in this easy-going, versatile Pale Ivory colourway that goes well with almost everything.
The capri leggings
What’s a y2k outfit without a capri? The double layered pink top by ASOS’ 4505 and these taupe capri leggings with the white stripe detailing on the side bring the retro energy to the table. And we’ve thrown on a cosy vintage hoodie for an off-duty Princess Diana moment.
The yoga pants
Yoga pants have been making a comeback in recent years, especially with the Tuscan yoga mum aesthetic on TikTok. But, unlike the TikTok trend we’ve gone for a more neutral-toned clean girl palette. The Nike white halter top styled with the grey yoga pants by Skims works just as well for a yoga class as it does for running errands or going to brunch.
The ¾-length pants
We have opted for a rolled up parachute pant by Calvin Klein Jeans paired with a half-zip tank top by Nike and black sunglasses – Meredith Blake from The Parent Trap would be proud. If you want to go full method with the Meredith Blake vibe, style with a cult Prada backpack, or this backpack by BEIS, for the ultimate ‘90s fit.
