There aren’t many Nike collaborators that are as highly regarded and hyped as Virgil Abloh’s Off-White label, and now we’ve got our hands on the first-ever official images of the upcoming Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 “University Gold”. The colourway has been teased for over a year now and many fans have been eagerly anticipating, so these are well overdue a release!
It’s unclear yet whether the sneakers will see a global release or be a limited regional exclusive, as rumours are stating that the launch date may coincide with Virgil’s upcoming “Figures of Speech” exhibition at the ICA Boston, so for now we’ll just have to wait and see, there’s a chance that these could be as limited as the “MCA” blue pair that launched back in 2019.
Abloh’s take on the legendary AF1 silhouette that was designed by Bruce Kilgore in 1982 looks better than ever here, keeping all the legendary traits that make these sneakers as iconic as they are, while totally modernising them with subtle additions and changes. A white Swoosh logo is stitched onto the lateral and medial sides to break up the look, while the signature deconstructed aesthetic is also present here.
Of course, an Off-White release wouldn’t be complete without the eye-catching zip-tie detail, which is seen here in monochromatic yellow. Other notable characteristics include Off-White branding on the medial side, a foam tongue and a yellowed-out midsole that conceals full-length Nike Air cushioning for comfort and support.
If you’re as keen as we are on the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 “University Gold” then you’ll have to keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for more details as they’re unveiled, as right now we don’t have any further information. Stay tuned for more and while you’re here check out the latest on the Air Jordan 4 “Lightning” retro release!
