This week is truly weeking. A Pikachu-themed Puma Suede, the King (aka LeBron James) is heading to Philly, a new Drama Call flagship store has opened its doors, and Ghanaian collective Free The Youth making sneaker history by being the first African design group to link up with the Jordan Brand. Here’s everything on our radar this week.

Puma has linked up with Pokémon to celebrate the Suede’s 30th birthday. The duo has reimagined the cult silhouette into a Pikachu-themed homage. The shoe got an early drop at an exclusive activation but there’s a wider release date to come.
Pharrell William’s Jellyfish is back and continues to expand its tentacles with new colourways. The exaggerated silhouette returns in a “Triple White” tone, letting the shoe’s sculptural shape do the talking. Drops August 1st.

A genuine first from the Jordan Brand: Ghanaian collective Free The Youth has become the first African design group to collaborate on the line. Formed in 2016, Free The Youth has spent the past decade building out creative and educational opportunities for young Ghanaians, as well as bringing great streetwear to the scene. The brand has reimagined the Air Jordan 16 with its distinct eye and aesthetic. The shoe is set to drop August 1st at freetheyouth.net and on August 15th via Nike SNKRS.

Nike is set to bring back the Sean Wotherspoon-designed mashup of the Air Max 97 and the Air Max 1, the Air Max 1/97. The shoe has not been released since 2018 and it’s coming back via Nike’s Doernbecheer Freestyle project (a programme that works with patient-designers from OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital). The shoe will be revealed in October, and is set to release in 2027.
The king’s one last dance, as the king said himself. LeBron James has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-year, $8m deal – ending his time with the Lakers. The 41-year-old legend and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer ditched his retirement plans, calling this move his “last decision”.
Tom Holland is booked and busy. After an epic-worthy tour for The Odyssey, the actor has swiftly swung straight into his fourth Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Get your Spider-Man merch ready because the movie comes out in UK cinemas on July 31st.
The Mamba mentality hits the pitch. For the second consecutive season, Nike has replaced the Swoosh with Kobe Bryant’s Shealth logo on Barça’s away kit. The 2026-27 kit channels Kobe through a black/purple ombre gradient (a tribune to his Lakers days) finished with gold details and an iridescent crest. Inside the collar you can see Kobe’s quote: “leave the game better than you found it.” The wider collection features apparel and iterations of the Nike Dunk Low and the Kobe 3 (more details to come).
