This year, there’s a sea of on-trend footwear styles to choose from. Presented with sneakerinas, Mary Janes, tabis, loafers, flip flops, and mules, even the most fashion-forward are battling with styling paralysis.
That’s where PUMA comes in. The brand’s latest offering, the Speedcat Mule, is a multi-style hybrid. It combines the slip-on style of a mule with the strap and circular toe of a Mary Jane, rendered with the soft elasticity of a ballet sneaker, allowing wearers to hit three trends in one.
Though it combines three distinct styles, the shoe’s detailing is subtle. The upper is made of supple leather, with a PUMA logo woven into the ballet slipper-style ruching. Its colour scale is neutral, and will be available in black, burgundy, coffee brown, and cream, ensuring there’s a pair for every outfit. With an open upper and back, the shoe is perfect for slipping on and off on trips by the coast, while the leather elevates it for city days and nights. Considering ballet flats have a tendency to dig in at the heel, these mules make for a wearable, mercifully plaster-free alternative.
£70.00
Considering how the Speedcat and Speedcat ballets have dominated streetwear and celebrity style over the past few months (they’ve been spotted on EmRata, Rihanna, Sophie Turner and Dua Lipa), and given sneakerheads' proven appetite for hybrid styles, we reckon the Speedcat mules are going to be ubiquitous on both streets and Pinterest boards this summer.
The PUMA Speedcat Mule launches on June 23rd for £70.
