Salomon’s been on a roll recently with the new XT-Evo and new XT-6 colourways dropping this autumn. Now, the new Salomon XT-Ridge takes on Salomon’s terrain DNA but with bolder design choices. The silhouette leaves the SensiFit cage, a signature characteristic of the XT line, behind and instead draws on the light and shadow aspects of modern architecture by using a semi-translucent TPU.
Salomon has linked up with Ma Yansong, founder of MAD Architects and known for the Shenzhen Bay Culture Park and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in LA, for his own interpretation of the shoe.
Yansong has always embedded nature into his urban settings, adding nature-inspired elements to his buildings, such as the Quzhou Sports Campus – where he took your standard stadium design and reimagined it into futuristic green-hilled volcanoes. And his design style is reflected on the XT-Ridge, a transitional silhouette which you can wear on the city streets or the mountain trails – balancing Salomon’s outdoor heritage with urban design.
The model is releasing in three different colourways: a cement-like grey, a moss green and a brown, inspired by architectural aesthetics and the textures of lime and gravel.
The Salomon XT-Ridge is out in China, UK release date TBC.
