In an era where every sneaker claims to tell a story, few do it with the authenticity and heart of the Saucony x Sneaker Politics ProGrid Omni 9 “Sportsman’s Paradise.” This retro runner is a richly layered tribute to Louisiana, designed by someone who knows it best.
Ezra, lead footwear designer at Politics and a key figure at the brand for over a decade, shaped this project as a personal homage to the South. The open weave mesh upper nods to the fishing nets found in the bayou. Clay-coloured mudguards and sidewall branding reflect Louisiana’s soil, while hairy suede and mossy greens speak to the state’s swampy vegetation. Even the pink hits carry meaning, referencing the Roseate Spoonbill, a bird native to the region’s wetlands.
Of course, it’s not just about materials, it’s about message. “Sportsman’s Paradise” captures harmony within the swamp, a cohesion of nature and culture that feels increasingly rare in today’s world. At a time when regional identity matters more than ever, this is a shoe that celebrates the State it comes from.
The special edition packaging drives the message home with a photo print of a Louisiana sunrise, while a “20 Years of Politics” heel logo marks two decades of one of the South’s most influential retailers.
And let’s not ignore the quality on show here either with nappy suede, breathable mesh and precision layering. These look good from 20 yards and even better up close. Saucony’s material game is serious and with collaborations like this, the Omni 9 is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most compelling silhouettes.
Launching 17 January at Sneaker Politics and globally 23 January on Saucony.com for £150, this one fits into our 'get don't regret' category.
