It's the end of an era. The Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 97/1 is regarded by many sneakerheads as the holy grail. Making its debut back in Air Max Day 2018, fans everywhere have been (im)patiently waiting for its sequel, but now, the Round Two co-founder has confirmed that the legendary partnership has come to an end.
"I've been done working with [Nike], at least on another SW collab, for a while."; explained the designer. "Still lots of good friends there. I help when asked, but being able to spread my wings again is the best feeling ever.";
Back in September, Wotherspoon teased a "second wave"; of his signature Air Max 97/1 hybrid. He even unveiled an Air Max 1 sample in December featuring a “removable overcoat” crafted from materials by Harris Tweed. While it's sad to see such an iconic collaboration come to an end, Wotherspoon is currently working on a full apparel and sneaker collection with GUESS, so we'll be seeing a lot more SW branded trainers very soon.
