Now, the year 2000 feels like a long time ago, but if you think the Air Kukini looks familiar, that’s because it is. Nike and Stüssy reimagined the shoe back in 2020, sitting the upper on top of a Spiridon 2 sole to create a collaborative sneaker. Now, the Beaverton brand have decided that it’s time to celebrate the model in all its original glory, and are bringing back the Sean McDowell-designed 2000 model in the Air Kukini “Aviator Grey.”
The “Aviator Grey” Air Kukini is the first colourway to have been revealed for the silhouette’s 2022 line-up, and we have to say, it’s a strong start. The Air Kukini still manages to look futuristic despite its age, thanks to its blue and silver swirled-patterned uppers and translucent TPU cages.
Elsewhere, “Summit White” overlays sit at the heel and toe tops, as well as at the top of the tongue. The “Aviator Grey” Air Kukini is then finished with a mostly white midsole, which houses an exposed Air Unit accented with blue borders to match the upper.
We’re still yet to hear of a release date for the “Aviator Grey” Nike Air Kukini, but expect these and a couple of other colourways to hit the shelves later this year. Until then, be sure to keep it locked and download our app to stay up to date with all the latest sneaker news and releases.
