The fashion world has been watching Chinese Canadian designer Susan Fang with considerable interest for a few years now. Her work, which often uses hand crafted techniques and draws on natural motifs, has caught the attention of some of the industry's most influential voices. Nike, in particular, has been a quiet but firm supporter, providing the footwear for her runway presentations since 2023. This ongoing backing has now reached its logical conclusion with the launch of the first official Susan Fang x Nike collection.
Two established silhouettes make up this first of its kind footwear release: the classicDunk Low and the popular Nike V2K Run. While the foundation of each shoe is familiar, Fang’s design introduces a complete transformation. She has reimagined the iconic Swoosh logo, crafting it from a string of delicate pearls. In place of standard laces, she has added wide ribbons, and the shoes are further adorned with small, button on floral attachments. Each model is covered in a soft baby blue shade, though the materials differ; the Dunk has a subtle patterned silk base layer, while the V2K Run uses a light mesh.
For those paying attention, this collaboration brings to mind the much celebrated ASICS partnerships with womenswear designer Cecilie Bahnsen. Both designers are bringing a distinctly feminine perspective to athletic footwear, championing intricate details and an aesthetic rooted in craftsmanship over pure functionality. Given the significant demand for Bahnsen’s work in this space, it’s reasonable to expect that Fang’s creations will follow a similar path and sell out quickly.
The Susan Fang x Nike collection already dropped at Nike in Japan and Australia on 12th September, however they are yet to load up here in the UK. The V2K Run is priced at £110, and the Dunk will retail for £145. Smash the 'Notify me' button and we'll let you know as soon as these drop.
