Queens native Teddy Santis has been making serious moves since he was appointed as Creative Director of New Balance’s Made in USA line, and he doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. After dropping a slew of colourways across three generations of NB’s 990 silhouette last year, 2023's releases are stacking up to be just as good, and this new emerald-toned “Green/Gold” version is a particular gem.
Taking on shades that are familiar to Santis’ work (the colours are also adopted by his Aimé Leon Dore imprint) the new 990 oozes class. As with many of its predecessors, the sneaker comes crafted from super-premium hairy suede and breathable mesh - the materials saturated in various shades of green. From here, a glint of gold hits the ‘N’ logos at the sidewalls, and ruby-red New Balance branding sits at the top of the tongue. Finally, a two-toned cream and green midsole sits comfortably underfoot - the perfect call back to the heritage behind the Boston-based brand’s 990 line.
If you're unsure of how to style a pair of bright green sneakers, then don't let that put your off - it actually couldn't be easier. Simply let the shoes do the talking with an all-black arrangement, or opt for a white or neutral top and shirt combo to break up the colour palette. It’s a quick way to work some colour into your outfit without having to work too hard for it.
If you’re looking to pick up the “Green/Gold” New Balance Made in USA 990v3, then be sure to hit the release reminders below ahead of the drop on the 7th of April - and, in the meantime head over to New Balance to check out the rest of the range.
