While we’re all still recovering from the post-Christmas debt, sneaker brands haven’t pulled any punches when it comes to dropping must-cop shoes. With fire releases dropping after fire releases, there’s never been a better time to be a sneakerhead. That being said, we’ve done the impossible task of rounding up the ten hottest drops of this month.
From general releases to some of the most exclusive kicks in the world, we’ve carefully handpicked January’s most desirable drops that you need in your sneaker collection right now!
Seasonally appropriate, the Nike Air Monarch 4 ‘Snow Day’, which released on January 4th, is painted in an all-white hue with metallic silver Swoosh logos and an icy blue translucent outsole. Cozy sherpa features inside the shoe and orange accents make their way to the midsole. To round off the clean design, the tongue showcases a layer of melting snow underneath the Monarch moniker, where the “o” is replaced by a snowflake.
Finely crafted from the Swoosh’s eco-friendly Flyleather, which was introduced to the world back in September of last year, January 10th’s A-COLD-WALL* x Nike Air Force 1 ‘White’ is paired with panels of pristine white nubuck and accented by perforated Swoosh branding. To round off the understated design, this ultra clean sneaker is completed with ACW branding at the mid-foot and tongue, and a tonal Air-infused midsole.
Founded in 2011, Japanese streetwear brand Cav Empt is a clothing label introduced by Sk8thing, the man behind the iconic graphics featured on BAPE, HUMAN MADE, Billionaire Boys Club, and Ice Cream. Dropped on January 10th, the pattern on the Cav Empt x Nike Air Max 95 ‘Black’ upper resembles a blend of pixels and digi-camo, which is befitting of their cyberpunk theme that is consistent throughout their identity.
Introduced back in the late ’70s, the adidas Originals Nite Jogger ‘Core Black’ was re-released on January 11th. Crafted from a combination of materials, including premium suede and breathable mesh, 3M laces ensure you’re seen even in the dark, and a heel counter is also present, wrapping across the back for the ultimate support. Of course, it wouldn’t be a full makeover without a full length Boost midsole.
Extremely understated compared to the OG colourways, January 17th’s Nike React Element 87 ‘Light Orewood’ makes use of a semi translucent upper that certainly makes a statement. A low slung orange Swoosh dives right into the midsole, while a wavy, trail-style lacing system constructed of leather and suede boasts reflective accents. Down below, Nike’s newest React cushioning makes its presence known.
Made to celebrate the silhouette’s 30th anniversary, the Nike Air Jordan 4 ‘Black Laser’ hit shelves on January 19th and features a blacked out upper and a contrasting white midsole. The upper is adorned with tonal graphics inspired by Michael Jordan’s illustrious career, including the Sick Game logo. To round it all off, a gum rubber outsole sits underfoot for additional comfort and durability, completing the timeless design.
Marking the first Jerry Lorenzo Swoosh sneaker, the Nike Air Fear of God 1 ‘Light Bone’ released on January 19th. Painted in a clean colour scheme, the basketball silhouette sits atop a chunky white midsole. A highlight of the shoe is the crazy lacing system which forms a triangle on the forefoot, which is a pretty rare sight in itself, while “AIR FEAR OF GOD” branding followed by the shoe’s serial number, also appears.
First leaked back in May of last year, the Jonah Hill-approved adidas Originals LXCON ‘Footwear White’ finally dropped on January 25th. Featuring an extra thick adiPRENE midsole for additional comfort and a smoother stride, three blue ribbons make up the unique lacing system, which is held together by a series of transparent pipes. To round it all off, a breathable knit upper completes the design.
Marking the silhouette’s fourth colourway since its debut at adidas’ 747 Warehouse St. event back in February 2018, the Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals Crazy BYW LVL X ‘CNY’ released on January 26th. Doused in a red and yellow palette with a dragon scale pattern featuring throughout, a podular Boost midsole sits underfoot to enhance comfort, while the upper boasts enlarged text that reads “AMBITION”.
Made to celebrate Chinese New Year, the Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals Solar Hu Glide ST ‘CNY’ dropped on January 26th and features a Primeknit bootie upper reminiscent of the Ultra Boost, and is tied together by a pair of stripy rope laces. A matte red heel cup is present around the back for added support, and a complementary full length Boost midsole sits underfoot for added comfort and a smoother stride.
