It’s almost time to put 2020 in your rear view – it can’t come fast enough, right?! Despite this being one of the most memorable years for some time, it also happens to be the most forgettable too! Lockdown put a stop to most of life’s little pleasures but there was still something to keep us all entertained. That’s right, a global pandemic wasn’t about to mess with our sneaker addiction!
This year we’ve seen some of the hottest releases on record; everything from ice-cream inspired Dunks to a collaboration so luxurious more than 5 million people attempted to cop! Looking back on some of this greatness, here we list 10 of the most popular releases. Some of these may or may not surprise you but these sneakers were the most searched by you in 2020!
10. Jordan 1 Mid "Chicago 2020" Dialling it right back to the first ever colourway, this Jordan 1 Mid was always going to be a best-seller. These arrived back in July at a time when the AJ1 Mid revival was in full swing. Several months later and new styles are still launching. The question is, will the hype continue for this silhouette into 2021?

9. Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Tail Light” Arriving exclusively for Europe and Russia, this understated pair turned out to be a hugely sought-after colourway. It was a simple theme, the only addition of colour featuring to the heel tab at the rear. Sure, it may not be massively eye-catching but it’s that versatility that makes the Yeezy 350 “Tail Light” a continued best-selling across resell platforms too.

8. Jordan 1 High OG “Game Royal” Pulling inspiration from the original 1985 release, this old school homage was painfully difficult to cop back in May. That said, there was plenty of stock to go around which would explain why these are not commanding huge prices right now on resell sites. Crafted in a near identical construct to the OG Jordan 1 , these were the ideal pair for us purists!

7. Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Cinder” 2019’s top list would no doubt be dominated with as many as five or six Yeezy releases. There’s no denying that despite a ton of colourways launching this year, Yeezy isn’t quite as hyped as it once was. That’s not to say most of the styles, and all of the 350s, weren't still quick to sell out. Just take the “Cinder” which surprisingly, is the most searched for Yeezy of 2020!

6. Jordan 1 “Dark Mocha” Only recently launched, this coffee-inspired Jordan 1 oozes class and refinement. There’s no fancy gimmacks here, just the clean lines of this old-school silhouette matched with an instantly appealing colour scheme. It’s just a shame these were so limited!

5. Ben & Jerry x Nike SB Dunk Low "Chunky Dunky" As far as collaborations go, this pair is about as unique as it gets. Although you might have expected a niche following these shocked everyone by becoming a huge success. Even for those not brave enough to wear something as loud, we can all appreciate the finer details. It’s the dripping Swoosh and cow-effect hide which makes these Dunks outrageously good!

4. Jordan 1 Mid “Chicago Black Toe” Nike’s revival of the Jordan 1 Mid has been an unstoppable force this year. No less than 40 colourways launched for guys and girls, all of them quick to sellout. But there’s a common theme with the most hyped of the year; they all showcase an OG colourway. Given the media attention surrounding the Chicago Bulls NETFLIX documentary, you can see why sneakerheads were even more inclined to cop this classic theme. Lukcily, prices aren’t too high on resell sites.

3. Dior x Jordan 1 High OG Grey More than 5 million sneakerheads entered the Dior x Jordan 1 raffle! Admittedly, most of those were probably attempting to cop just to cash in on the eye-watering resell profits. That said, there's no denying the appeal with this pair. Bringing a lux makeover to a classic, this might just be remembered as 2020s most distinctive release.

2. Off-White x Nike Air Jordan 4 “White” Arguably the cleanest release of the summer, Virgil Abloh’s cream-drenched Jordan 4 very nearly garnered the most searches in 2020. At a time when fashion trends shifted towards more simplistic design – neutral tones and classic themes – it’s no surprise this pair was such a fan favourite. It was so popular and so limited that sizes will set you back over £1,000!

1. Jordan 1 Mid “Smoke Grey” It’s hard to believe but the AJ1 Mid “Smoke Grey” racked up the highest number of page views in 2020! Who would of thought it, a general-release taking the number one top spot as the most popular sneaker! It seems tons of you wanted to get your hands on this pair and there’s no guessing why. Described by many as the perfect alternative to Dior x Jordan 1, this pair was accessible and didn’t come with an eye-watering price tag. It also goes to show just how influential the Jordan 1 Mid has been in 2020!
