If your knowledge of sneaker history is very good, you might remember that a Hello Kitty x Nike collection was meant to drop way back in 2004, and included a (now legendary) Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto. Fast-forward to the present day and those rumours are once again circling, all thanks to new images of a Nike x Hello Kitty tee doing the rounds online this morning. It’s reported that the original “White” and “Black” Nike Air Prestos could be set to drop alongside this as part of a wider collection, so here is what we know so far...
Originally designed by Steven Smith (who now heads up Yeezy’s design team) the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto was originally meant to drop in 4 colourways, with 500 pairs per colourway. However, for whatever reason, they were released as friends and family pairs only, with just 10-24 pairs of each colour left to venture out into the wild. The original "White" colourway saw the neoprene shoe take on an all-over print of the character dressed in various outfits, whereas the "Black" was decorated with the character’s face, making for one super-cute collab!
Rumour has it that the original Hello Kitty x Nike Air Prestos will be accompanied by some new designs for 2022, although any more info is very heavily under wraps right now. However, we’re very keen to find out more about the resurrection of this legendary collab, so rest assured we’ll let you know as soon as we hear more!
