Well folks, just when you thought 2020 couldn't get any worse, the Swoosh has now decided to cancel the 7-Eleven x Nike SB Dunk Low. The collaboration that we never knew we needed, they literally broke the internet when they were first teased at the end of last month, and now, we'll never get them in our collections.
Inspired by the legendary Japanese-American convenience store that established back in 1927, the Dunk Low is painted in their signature orange, green, and red colour palette with clean white accents featuring along the laces and Swoosh.
An embroidered "Nike" at the back mimics the chain's brand, while their logo adorns the lateral heel. This collaboration was significant in that it marked the first "official" partnership between the power duo. If you can remember, the Beaverton brand dropped the Dunk High "Big Gulp" back in 2008 as a reference the 7-11's famous cups, but this was never an official collab.
According to Matt Welty, Associate Editor of Complex Sneakers, the 7-Eleven x Nike SB Dunk Low was supposed to launch alongside the Olympics in Tokyo as a nod to the city’s convenience stores, but since the Games have been postponed until next year, Nike just axed the drop altogether.
