London based designer Lorenzo Federici is moving back into the public eye with his latest undertaking: two remarkable, made to order Nike Air Max 95s dubbed "Dusk" and "Menta." For those who follow independent custom work, this release is important; it marks the first public preorder opportunity Lorenz.OG’s offering in more than two years.
Federici is producing just 24 pairs of each colourway. That diminutive quantity deliberately echoes the Hyperstrike age of the early 2000s, when Nike issued microruns specifically for brand associates and insiders.
The aesthetic inspiration behind the sneakers is deeply personal, continuing Federici’s exploration of colour as a reflection of spirituality. The “Dusk” edition captures a gentle, layered gradation, drawing inspiration from the slow, tonal transformations observed as the day concludes. In contrast, the “Menta” pair features a vibrant, illuminating colour scheme, influenced by the dramatic light display of the Aurora Borealis, a natural phenomenon often described as the sky rejoicing.
Each Air Max 95 will be individually finished and hand dyed in London, meaning no two units will be precisely the same, with intentional variations making every pair truly one of a kind. Buyers will receive a signed Certificate of Authenticity alongside their purchase.
Now, we come to the detail that causes the most discussion: the price. At £999 per pair, this firmly places these 95s outside the casual sneaker purchase bracket. Federici addressed this directly, offering clarity on this decision:
“I know the £999 price won’t be for everyone, and that’s completely fine. My last two public releases — the 860v2 and the AM95 “110s” — were intentionally priced low because they were community moments. But my core work has always lived in a higher bracket: fully hand-dyed, individually finished, one-off pieces. I stopped taking private commissions in 2023 because they limited how far I could push my practice. This drop is a return to that craft-led approach, and historically, that level of work has always sat in this range.
This release is for the people who’ve been asking for years how to secure a pair no matter the cost, and it also allows me to reinvest directly into my studio and continue building at the level I want to operate at. The long-term goal remains the same: to showcase this work and the value of the brand to partners with the scale and infrastructure to bring my ideas to a wider audience through collaborations that can make them more accessible.“
It’s clear that these Air Max 95s won’t be for everyone. It’s more of an intersection of contemporary footwear and pure artistic practice. If you value unparalleled craftsmanship, genuine scarcity, and a distinct narrative poured into every fibre, you’re going to love this. The "Dusk" and "Menta" drop on Thursday 27 November at 9 PM GMT. Following the preorder, a five week manufacturing period will apply, with shipping commencing in the first week of January.
