The NBA All-Star Weekend 2020 is nearly here and to celebrate, adidas is releasing the new adidas NBA All-Star 2020 collection. The brand has crafted limited edition models for adidas Basketball’s All-Star athletes and other, more accessible silhouettes, are made to be as stylish off the court as they are functional on it.
The lifestyle silhouettes in the collection were designed in collaboration with Fat Tiger Workshop – a team that’s a hub of Chicago street culture – and each of the four silhouettes are inspired by Chicago’s world-famous strong and stern nature. First up is the adidas Rivalry Hi which takes on an olive-green hue and plush suede fabrication.
Three Superstar silhouettes make an appearance; the “Chicago Plays Harder” iteration comes complete with statement details, a pretty pink adidas “Paradise Lost” Superstar comes with ‘We Are All Superstars’ written on the midsole and a bright red patent “Chicago Girls Do It Better” pair signs off the lifestyle category. Due to release on the 15th Feb at adidas, the lifestyle range is made to see you from work to weekend (and everything in between).
To celebrate the range, adidas is opening a pop-up shop of Tony’s Sports (one of Chicago’s most popular sports-goods retailers in the 80s and 90s). The pop-up will include special products and even a temporary tattoo stand! Running from the 7th Feb to the 16th Feb, this shop is the icing on top of the cake.
The sportier styles in this collection have been meticulously designed by adidas to be highly functional but still get a slam dunk in the style department. Each silhouette has been given to some of adidas’s best NBA athletes and the first style is a tribute Derrick Rose. Back in both the “Concrete Rose” and “Simeon Academy” colourways the original adiZero Rose 1 is inspired by Rose’s high-school days. Both hues are due to release on the 13th February at Chicago retailers and online at adidas on the 14th Feb.
The next style, the Dame 6 by Damian Lillard, has had a little makeover by the one and only Pusha T. The shoe is rounded off with “I Am My Own Fan” lettering and accents that nod to 90s mixtape culture. The Pusha T x adidas Dame 6 also comes out on the 14th. Following suit is the Daniel Patrick x adidas Harden Vol. 4. Fusing adidas’s heritage with Harden’s signature statement style, this bright shoe is made with an ultra-responsive Lightstrike midsole.
Finally, perhaps the most decadent shoe in the collection is the adidas Pro Model 2G Shelltoe. Presented in a black and gold colourway, the mid-top design will be worn by Brandon Ingram, Kyle Lowry, Trae Young, Patrick Beverley and Zach LaVine over the course of the NBA All-Star weekend. You can get your hands on this iteration over at adidas on the 10th Feb!
A collection that’s definitely made to catch eyes, the adidas NBA All-Star 2020 is a range that you do not want to miss. Keep it locked into The Sole Supplier for more info on this drop, and in related news, the Yeezy BSKTBL is finally releasing in two versions over NBA All-Star Weekend!
