The adidas Spezial x C.P. Company Collab: A Truly British Affair

Over the past decade, adidas Spezial has bridged diverse fashion realms, bringing together terrace culture, drum and bass enthusiasts, skaters, and those who simply appreciate stylish clothing. Now, Spezial is once again collaborating with the esteemed C.P. Company. Since both brands focus on outerwear, jackets are naturally a standout in this collection. But this time we're also seeing a variety of well crafted sneakers added to the collection.

The two brands appear to collaborate exclusively for significant events. Following an adidas Originals link-up with C.P. Company in 2018, they came together to again in 2021 to commemorate C.P.'s 50th anniversary. This time, the two return to celebrate a decade of adidas SPZL. The 50th anniversary celebration, or 'Cinquanta,' showcased a camo puffer jacket alongside the Italia C.P. SPZL trainer. This sneaker is making a return in the latest collab, now crafted in premium leather with a suede T-toe, featuring a 'Royal Blue/White' colourway.

The 2024 collection introduces five fresh sneaker designs that combine C.P. Company’s Italian elegance with Spezial’s British sportswear roots. From classic three stripes sneakers to hiking inspired boots, each pair is meticulously updated with premium materials. Leading the pack is the Wimberly, a bold, modern twist on the classic Handball Spezial. It features premium suede and dual brand details, offered in two standout colourways. This design captures both brands' shared love for timeless style, merging sporty vibes with a sophisticated look perfect for casual wear.

The SL 83 Spezial enters the collection as a sleek, retro inspired model, perfect for vintage adidas enthusiasts while being reimagined for today's fashion scene. Another highlight is the Helvellyn, drawing inspiration from the rugged landscapes of northern England. This model merges outdoor durability with urban elegance, ideal for those who value C.P. Company’s rugged aesthetic in a city-ready design.

Completing the collection is the reimagined version of the Italia Spezial, celebrating the brands' 2021 collaboration for C.P. Company’s 50th anniversary. The Italia blends heritage with modern touches, securing its status as a timeless classic.

The campaign has unfolded like a British blockbuster, featuring Top Boy star Ashley Walters, acclaimed actor Stephen Graham, UK jungle legend Goldie, adidas enthusiast Robert Brooks, and jeweler Toby Mclellan. With a video in which all these celebrities captivate the audience by reciting Shakespeare, we don't think it could get any more British than that!

Known as the lead actor in Top Boy (and, among anyone who grew up in the early naughts, as Flirta D from UK garage group So Solid Crew) Ashley Walters appears alongside award-winning actor Stephen Graham, and UK jungle legend Goldie. Plus, Robert Brooks and Toby Mclellan, both prominent figures in British streetwear and adidas SPZL collaborators, are in the mix.

The adidas Spezial x C.P. Company collab launches on 12th November, 2024, and will be available at select retailers as well as on adidas.com.
