After last year’s collab palooza for its 10th anniversary, adidas SPZL is hitting reset, ditching the partnerships and going back to basics. True to SPZL’s DNA, this drop is all about celebrating adidas’s heritage; no celebrity tie ins or massive collabs required.
Enter the TRX Mesh SPZL, a new hybrid sneaker inspired by the iconic blue and yellow TRX famously rocked by Roger Daltrey in McVicar. But don’t expect a straight up reissue here; the design team took a trip down memory lane (aka the adidas archive in Herzogenaurach) and came back with a modern remix.
This isn’t just a “slap a logo on it and call it a day” kind of update. The TRX Mesh SPZL gets a full makeover with extra overlays, tweaked materials, refined eye stays, and reworked tooling. The result? A sneaker that’s retro and fresh, all at the same time.
The TRX SPZL is no wild colour reinterpretation; it stays true to its OG blue and yellow palette but with a slicker, EVA wedge midsole replacing the usual moulded version. It's a nod to the past with a cleaner, sharper look.
As for the upper, it borrows the racing mesh design from a 2000 Marathon TR (a rare find from adidas’s athlete services team). The dimpled tongue, vintage cotton laces, and painstakingly perfected yellow accents scream old school feels.
The TRX Mesh SPZL is the ultimate clash of archival greatness and thoughtful updates. Dropping March 27th via adidas Confirmed and select retailers. Hit that bell icon, set your alarms, and maybe even say a little prayer; these beauties won’t sit on shelves for long.
