The BAPESTA is, hands down, one of the most controversial sneakers ever made. First unveiled back in 2000, it's Nigo's take on the legendary Nike Air Force 1, borrowing exact elements from the shoe but with a subtle yet striking BAPE twist. Now, to celebrate the model's 20th anniversary they've unleashed the BAPESTA "Patchwork Denim", and it's truly a thing to behold.
As its name states, the "Patchwork Denim" is dressed in panels of denim of various tones and textures, resulting in an ultra unique thrifted aesthetic that's sure to turn heads. A leather "Bathing Ape" badge is stitched across the lateral toe box, while you'll also find their signature shooting star motif across the side panels as well as a nod to the back pocket patches that you'd see on your classic pair of jeans.
Down below, a fully gummed out midsole is present in a style that's just like the AF1, and "BAPE" branding is also embossed across the back in a varsity-style font, finalising the design.
Set to be a women's exclusive, the A Bathing Ape BAPESTA "Patchwork Denim" will drop at BAPE's webstore on March 7th. If this colourway is a bit too flashy for you, make sure you check out Selfridge's full BAPESTA range here right now!
