The BTS x McDonald’s x Nike TN Air Max Plus “McNugget Meal” Is Smooth like Butter

Hallyu, a Chinese term that directly translates to "Korean Wave", is used to describe the explosive growth of South Korean pop culture, not only in Asia but also globally – enveloping all things music-related, movies, dramas, food, skincare, and much more. The helm of this ever-growing sensation? K-pop (short for Korean pop music). Groups such as Blackpink, Twice, and Red Velvet has become more and more visible overseas, and most especially BTS who recently joined forces with world-famous fast-food joint McDonald's for an exclusive Chicken McNugget Meal. But how does this exactly relate to sneakers? Born from the creative hands of Singaporean artist @josiahchua, we've got a closer look at the BTS x McDonald's x Nike TN Air Plus "McNugget Meal", and all we can say is that it's smooth like butter!

While a few might have only gone as far as treasuring this time-limited meal by flexing photos on the gram, full-fledged Army, BTS' official fandom name, have preserved theirs in display cases. However, sneakerhead-slash-BTS fan Chua has taken it even further by merging two of his favourites into one.

Using the Swoosh brand's 1998 retro-classic Air Max trainers as the debut stage for his ensemble, Chua thoroughly patterned the Nike TN Air Max Plus' panels into the McNugget box and drinking cup to form its overlays.

Across the medial collars, you'll find a holster that allows you to store chicken nuggets – highly reminiscent of the stash pockets from Travis Scott's Air Jordan 6. Of course, the BTS McNugget Meal wouldn't be complete without the special-edition Cajun and Sweet Chilli dipping sauce acting as lace dubraes foot.

A shade of purple coats the entire design – possibly a direct nod to the groups' album dubbed "BTS, the Best" or "Love Yourself:Answer" from 2018. The custom Nike shoes are then rounded off with co-branded details such as McDonald's instantly-recognisable M insignia as well as the Bulletproof Boy Scouts' logo.
