Earlier this year, RTFKT unveiled its "MNLTH" NFT which sold out literally within seconds. Featuring a futuristic silver cube design, Nike's signature Swoosh was debossed on the sides of it as it glowed ominously. Since then, owners of the "MNLTH" have been on several quests to discover the contents within the mysterious cube.
A quarter of a year later, and the wait is over. After acquiring the virtual sneaker company for almost five months, the Beaverton brand have officially unveiled their very first NFT sneaker, named the Nike Cryptokicks. Clearly inspired by the ever-popular Dunk that's been making waves over the past two years, the shoe has been dubbed the "Future of Sneakers".
As avant-garde as it gets, the upper looks like it's crafted from several metallic parts with an extra chunky midsole underfoot. As you can see from the images in this article and the accompanying video below, owners will be able to gain access to "thousands of skins". This is done through what are being called Skin Vials, which will allow you to switch up the look of your Nike Dunk Genesis.
Nike actually filed for the Cryptokicks trademark earlier this week, so we kind of knew that something like this was coming, but that doesn't stop us from being completely blown away by the potential that this NFT has. This is the first step into a fully-fledged digital experience with many more projects like this set to pop-up over the course of the year, so make sure you follow The Sole NFT over on Twitter for all the latest updates!
The RTFKT x Nike Cryptokicks NFT is available now, so head on over to OpenSea to grab yours before they sell out. Let us know if you managed to secure a pair, and if you're not entirely sure what to do, we recently wrote an article on how to buy your first NFT on OpenSea in 3 simple steps - make sure you check it out!
