One of the most amazing things about the Dunk is that it can capture inspiration from anywhere. Whether it's magic mushrooms or famous sports cars, the silhouette isn't afraid to try something new, and that's certainly the case for the First Avenue x Nike SB Dunk Low "Prince" which pays homage to the legendary artist, actor, and director known as Prince Rogers Nelson.
Made in collaboration with the iconic First Avenue in Minneapolis, the special edition release aims to celebrate the life and work of the mystery man. Working on a black colourway, purple accents make their way throughout to represent Prince's "Purple Rain", which so happens to be the final song that he performed live just one week before his death in 2016.
An embroidered star graces the heel as a nod to the venue, and this motif is repeated across the toebox perforations. The Nike Swoosh and heel tab are painted in a stealthy colour scheme, but as soon as they come in contact with a flash you'll find that they're actually infused with 3M so you can flex even in low light conditions.
If you thought that was all the you would be dead wrong, as this limited edition Dunk is stuffed full of details. The insole is designed after black and white tiled floors, and just above the co-branding you'll find a ticket to a First Avenue performance on April 3rd 1970.
