The Icon is Back: Air Diamond Turf “Signing Day” Returns on 8th February

Nike is set to revive one of its most iconic colourways, the Nike Air Diamond Turf "Signing Day." This release pays tribute to the legendary Deion Sanders and his unforgettable signing day look from 1989, when he was drafted fifth overall by the Atlanta Falcons during the NFL Draft. The sneaker celebrates Sanders’ unapologetic style and larger than life persona, honouring a moment that kicked off a storied sports career.

The year 1989 was nothing short of monumental for Sanders. Within six months, the dual port superstar was drafted into the NFL, made his MLB debut, and played his first professional football game with the Falcons. It began one of the greatest sports legacies of all time. Sanders, a man who always knew his worth, showed up to the 1989 NFL Draft in a gold accented outfit that perfectly captured his "Prime Time" essence. Now, Nike is bringing that energy back with the "Signing Day" edition of his first signature shoe, the Air Diamond Turf.

Designed to reflect Sanders' leather coat and gold jewellery from that iconic day, the Air Diamond Turf "Signing Day" features a black leather upper with gold accents. The heel replaces the traditional “Nike Air” text with gold stitched “You Gotta Believe!” a mantra Sanders now instils in his players as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Additional gold details appear on the tongue, highlighting his iconic NFL and MLB jersey numbers, as well as on the Swoosh, insoles, and the mesh portion of the shoe’s lace strap.

The release is perfectly timed, as Deion Sanders' son, Shedeur Sanders, prepares for his own NFL Draft moment in 2025. As the star quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes, Shedeur is widely projected as a top three draft pick.
