New Balance has long been a go-to brand for sneakerheads who are fond of "dad shoes", and lately, the label is enjoying the insane surge of sales, all thanks to high-profile collaborations that sell out in a matter of seconds on drop day such as Teddy Santis' Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550s. As for their latest offering, the Boston footwear label teamed up once again with renowned American actor and music artist Jaden Smith to rework his famous undefined silhouette. The much-anticipated Jaden Smith x New Balance Vision Racer "ReWorked" has finally arrived just in time for Earth Day 2021 and we've got a detailed look at the pair right here, so read on to find out how super sustainable these are!
If you're not quite sure what Earth Day is, it's an annual event celebrated globally with an aim to focus on environmental problems we're experiencing. Naturally, sneaker companies would also participate as shoes are known to hold the largest carbon footprint among our outfit, and what better way is there to have Will Smith's son, an avid eco-activist, revamp his New Balance Vision Racer trainers.
Unlike its former colourways, the Vision Racer's "ReWorked" iteration sees a light grey hue coating the panels from heel to toe that is manufactured from a mix of recycled polyester, Spandex, and the sporting goods' newly-developed SPINNEX fibre which is composed of industrial waste. White overlays then land on the silhouette and stretch out all over with multi-coloured speckles, joined with branding motifs in the form of New Balance's italicised "N" logo in black on the lateral and medial side panels for a pop of contrast.
Additional NB imprints grace the heel and the translucent rubber blue outsole where also the Vision Racer's traditional model wording is withdrawn in favour of the text which reads "” in pink. Lastly, the scheme is rounded off with a chunky structured midsole, speckled in tones of black, that is crafted from 5% recycled EVA foam. Of course, you can still expect a super lightweight feel and a level of cushioning and comfort that is off the charts, just like with most New Balance sneakers.
If you love the environment, then you'll also love the Jaden Smith x New Balance Vision Racer Natural Grey, so keep it locked in right here at The Sole Supplier for all the latest New Balance releases, news, teasers, and much more.
