The Kasina x Nike Air Max 1 "Made To Be Together" is, quite literally, a match made in heaven. Not only does 2022 mark the South Korean streetwear boutique's 25th anniversary, it's also the 35th birthday of the iconic Air Max 1. After weeks and weeks of leaks and teasers, the coveted collaboration has been officially confirmed - and it's dropping a lot sooner than we had expected!
As the name of the collection hints, the "Made To Be Together" celebrates the matrimony between the brand and Nike. Represented by kireogi, which are wooden mandarin ducks, these are traditionally given as marriage gifts in Korea because, unlike other duck breeds, they mate for life. If one of the pair passes away the other will mourn. While this might sound somewhat morbid, it showcases the close relationship that the label has with the Beaverton-based footwear company.
Sailing in in "Orange" and "Grey" colourways, both pairs are done up with a plethora of premium materials. From soft pony hair to ultra luxe leather, there's nothing else quite like this out there. A crisp white Swoosh shoots across the lateral and medial side panels, while an even smaller one is finely stitched across the toe complete with a dainty flower graphic. Mandarin ducks are embroidered at the heel, and a laser cut deubre gives the Kasina AM1s a traditional vibe. Both pairs come packed in special edition shoeboxes, making them must-haves for sneaker enthusiasts.
The Kasina x Nike Air Max 1 "Made To Be Together" will drop exclusively at Kasina on June 4th, followed by a much wider SNKRS release on June 8th. Make sure you smash those "Notify me" buttons for your best chance to cop, and while you're here, you might as well take your first look at the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "Orange"!
