To celebrate the impressive legacy left behind by the drift racing culture of the 1990s, adidas Skateboarding has joined forces with Californian-based skate label Metropolitan to release a limited edition capsule collection. Consisting of the Metropolitan x adidas Skateboarding ZX 8000 and a whole range of apparel, the collection is inspired by the vibrant colours and bright lights of tuned-up race cars.
The ZX 8000 showcases a stealthy black base layer that’s then accentuated with pops of pink, green and silver for a striking look. It’s crafted from technical ripstop and has several modifications compared to the standard silhouette, a nod to the tuning and aftermarket parts craze that hit the streets back in the ‘90s!
Alongside the footwear offering, a whole range of apparel including a classic three-stripe tracksuit is releasing. To celebrate the release, the two brands came together for a joint marketing push featuring a specially painted vintage drift racer that was then put to its limits around a racetrack.
The Metropolitan x adidas Skateboarding ZX 8000 alongside the accompanying apparel is set to release soon, so if you’re looking to cop a pair stay locked into The Sole Supplier to ensure you don’t miss any crucial updates. If you’re into skate-centric releases, check out the Nike SB Dunk Elephant that’s just been teased!
