Earlier this week, we took a sneak peek of the "Black". While we initially thought that they were fakes, the Boston-based dropped two pairs out of nowhere, including the New Balance 2002R Mule "Rain Cloud" and "Mindful Grey", and honestly, we're not entirely sure how to react.
Featuring the exact same material construction as the classic 2002R, these Mules boast the same design too, but if you haven't noticed already, the heel has been completely removed so you can slide your foot in and out with ease. The laces have disappeared too in favour of a single perforated panel, and the inside is crafted from a plush inner lining that looks pretty comfortable.
Down below, a highly sculpted midsole is present. Interestingly, no N-ERGY branding can be found anywhere on this unit, so we're not entirely sure if it's created with New Balance's famed cushioning technology.
The New Balance 2002R Mule "Rain Cloud" and "Mindful Grey" are both available now in China, with a global launch expected in a few weeks time. Let us know what you think of this reworked silhouette, and while you're here, these New Balance 2002Rs just restocked with full size runs!
