While collaborations continue to saturate the sneaker scene, one brand that consistently manages to cut through the noise is Boston-based New Balance, whose impeccable partnership strategy puts it head and shoulders above the rest. Following on from collaborative works from the likes of JJJJound, Joe Freshgoods and Patta, which have all seen immense success this year, the brand is once again set to link up with Miami-born Stray Rats for a joint take on the New Balance 580 silhouette.
Having previously worked with Stray Rats on a 991 and 574, the duo is now set to release two colourways of the 580. First previewed during the summer, the pairs both feature vibrant colour blocking, adding a fun touch to the chunky silhouette. The “Teal/Green” pair sees a mixed leather and nylon construction come doused in olive and steel grey, while pops of purple, pink blue and neon green decorate the upper. Underfoot, the 580 benefits from a Rollbar stability system that helps to deliver a comfy and stable ride.
Of course, the same technology also features on the accompanying pair, though this iteration comes painted in more autumn-ready shades. The “Red/Purple” pair sees red leather panels sit atop purple underlays, while olive, yellow and orange detailing adds extra points of interest. Both pairs then come kitted out with co-branded accents, including printed insoles, and Stray Rats’ logo on the dubraes.
Right now, no release date has been revealed for the upcoming Stray Rats x New Balance 580 collection, but be sure to hit those release reminders and stay locked to The Sole Supplier to be the first to know more. In the meantime, here's an early look at part of of Teddy Santis' New Balance Made in USA collection.
