As part of its vow to work harder to improve on sustainability practices, the Swoosh is set to release the brand-new Nike Atsuma. A sneaker made from the offcuts of material that are usually discarded, this trainer not only reduces unnecessary material waste, but delivers on performance and style at the same time.
Presented in a super wearable colour scheme, bright orange sits alongside teal and blue. Kept pared-back thanks to ivory and black overlays, this sneaker makes a statement without sacrificing wearability. With this silhouette, Nike cleverly uses the materials at its disposal. The inside of the shoe comes in teal leather with a cut-out Swoosh. That cut-out has been placed on the opposite side to create a puzzle effect.
The rubber hang-tag on this pair is made from a cut-out of the outsole and final details come in the form of a comfortable foam midsole, a recycled sockliner and a modern three-Swoosh graphic.
A step in the right direction for Nike’s sustainability initiative, reducing material waste not only saves the brand money, it also saves the world’s landfill and oceans from taking in more waste. A silhouette that looks good and does good, you can cop your very own pair of the Nike Atsuma on the 1st January on Nike’s webstore. We don’t know how much it’ll set you back yet, but keep it locked into The Sole Supplier to be the first to know when more details are released.
