The upcoming Corteiz x Nike Air Trainer Huarache stands out as a bold reinvention of a very distinctive silhouette. Drawing parallels to the Olivia Kim x Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat”, this release gives that plush, all black aesthetic to this sneaker for the first time.
Unlike the leather uppers seen in Corteiz’s earlier collaborations, this third instalment opts for a texture overhaul. The design swaps out leather for faux black pony hair, delivering an edgy, animal inspired look reminiscent of the Air Jordan 4 that dropped earlier this month.
Leaked images shared by @uppersnkrs on X reveal an interesting upper crafted from faux pony hair, creating a stylish, tactile appeal. The design also introduces a protruding Swoosh on the toe box, while dark camouflage nylon underlays provide a subtle contrast to the otherwise monochrome palette.
This “Black Pony Hair” edition is a daring departure from the leather heavy styles of previous collaborations. Will it resonate with sneaker enthusiasts? Only time will tell. What’s certain, however, is Corteiz and Nike’s willingness to push boundaries and experiment with this iconic silhouette.
While the official pricing for the Corteiz x Nike Air Trainer Huarache “Black Pony Hair” has yet to be announced, the pair is expected to drop exclusively via crtz.xyz this December.
