Things have been slightly quiet for Nike 's first-ever shoe since it celebrated its 50th birthday with sacai and Union LA collaborations last year. Despite this, the Nike Cortez is back, and this latest rendition might just be one of the silhouette's most unique iterations yet.
The Nike Cortez "Yin and Yang" takes inspiration from the Chinese philosophical concept that describes opposite but interconnected forces. Commonly represented by the yin-yang symbol, a circle made up of black and white swirls, this latest pair looks to adopt the same monochromatic principles.
Atop its jagged outsole sits a quality leather construction complete with layered details on the lateral and medial sides. In contrast to the regular Cortez silhouette, this pair feature large zippered shrouds atop the regular lacing as well as an extended heel tag. Staying true to its yin and yang inspo, the lateral and medial sides contrast each other with black and white hues accordingly.
No official release date has been confirmed yet for the Nike Cortez "Yin and Yang," but insiders are saying it could be coming within the next few months. In other footwear news, shaggy suede uppers decorate the Nike SB Dunk Low "Mystic Red."
