With Mexico's Día de Muertos arriving just around the corner, the Swoosh have unveiled their annual Nike "Día de Muertos" 2020 Collection to celebrate the Day of the Dead. An event where family and friends gather together to remember those who have died, Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day to celebrate their lives.
Comprising of four legendary silhouettes including the Air Jordan 1, the Blazer Mid, the Air Max 90, and the Daybreak Type, each pair is decorated with yellow stitching as an ode to the traditional Mexican Marigold flower, as well as the phrase "Para Mi Familia" which literally translates to "For My Family" in Spanish.
Each pair is inspired by altars used during Día de Muertos. The AJ1 boasts a purple and white colour palette with a cracked Nike Swoosh shooting along the lateral and medial side panels, while the Blazer opts for a more minimal aesthetic, complete with vibrant coloured trims that are sure to turn heads.
There's no doubt in anyone's mind that the AM90 is the most colourful of the lot, covered in a wide range of traditional patterns and motifs that reflect the day's vibrancy. And to round it all off, the D-Break Type takes deconstruction to a new level with visible stitching and see-through mesh panelling.
Available now at Nike Mexico, the Nike "Day of the Dead" 2020 Collection is set to get a worldwide release on October 15th. Let us know which pair you're feeling the most, and in related news, the Nike "Naija" Nigeria Football Collection is still available!
