While rumours that the Kobe Bryant estate’s partnership with Nike was coming to an end circulated last year, it’s now clear that the duo will continue to work together into the future, as official images of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Mambacita Sweet 16” have now been unveiled. The model was first teased late last year and a small number of pairs did accidentally release and subsequently resold for large sums of money.
Those who paid resale prices for these might be a little gutted to hear that they are finally getting an official release, and we’ve got a closer look right here. Crafted from synthetics across the uppers, the sneakers showcase classic Swoosh branding across the lateral and medial sides and are decked out in a fitting black and white colourway.
Special features come in the form of Kobe’s logo across the tongues and a gold-embellished number two on the rear of the kicks, representing his late daughter Gigi Bryant’s uniform number. This all sits on top of a Nike Zoom midsole unit that provides all the comfort and support you’ll need in a performance basketball sneaker.
As of yet there’s no official release date for this pair, although we do know that all proceeds from the launch will be donated to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.
