While we tend to associate jackets and coats with the winter months, it's worth remembering that April showers are just around the corner, and that the evening chill is still likely to bite for a little while longer. And, though that might sound depressing to start with, there are definitely advantages to the situation - like finding the perfect excuse to invest in a brand-new jacket from The North Face.
As the brand has well and truly embedded itself into streetwear culture over the past few years, its year-round offering has got stronger and stronger, with plenty of styles fighting it out to become the next Nuptse. This spring is no different - in fact, we think this season’s line-up could be the strongest we’ve seen yet, with plenty of pieces vying for our attention.
Kicking things off, we’ve been loving the throwback vibes brought in by the brand’s Low-Fi Hi-Tek collection. Originally inspired by the iconic Oval InTENTion - the first geodesic tent in history - each piece perfectly blends earth tones with pops of colour for a retro, outdoorsy look. Originally designed for climbers (you don’t get more Gorpcore than that, do you?) the Mountain Jacket harnesses wind-blocking tech to trap in the heat - perfect for those more blustery spring days. Coming in both a men’s and women’s cut, if you’re looking to invest in a good coat this season, look no further than this.
Now, we are in a cost-of-living crisis after all - and if a £250 jacket isn’t on your radar right now, then we totally get it. Luckily, there are loads of great lifestyle options that are a little more budget-friendly, while also offering up endless styling and layering opportunities - giving you way more bang for your buck. We love the men’s Ampato Quilted Jacket for its timeless look (it's also water-repellent) and the women’s Cragmont Fleece. Both are inspired by archival staples and are super-practical, meaning they’ll see you through not just the next season, but the years to come too.
