The PUMA LQD Cell Origin Air Is The World's First Augmented Reality Sneaker

While other sneaker brands are looking to the past for inspiration, PUMA has its sights set on the future. After taking the wraps off the innovative Fit Intelligence self-lacing technology, the German giant has now unveiled the world's first augmented reality sneaker, and it's a definite game-changer.

From a distance, the LQD Cell Origin Air may look like any old mid-top shoe, but upon further inspection, you'll find that the mesh upper is absolutely covered in 2D QR codes. Using PUMA's LQD Cell app, sneakerheads will be able to scan the shoe and unlock an array of AR experiences including models, filters, and games. While this may sound quite gimmicky, it opens up a bunch of new possibilities for sneaker design.

As well as this, the LQD Cell Origin Air marks the first shoe to utilise PUMA's brand new LQD Cell technology, which aims to provide unbeatable cushioning through hexagonal Profoam cells. This tech is set to make its way to a whole line of sneakers in the coming months.
