We’ve been saying that retro-style runners are set to have a big year in 2023, and upcoming releases from key brands continue to prove us right. Hot off the back of Nike’s Vomero 5 revival and New Balance’s 1906R rollout, German giant adidas has responded with its Orketro runner - a new 90’s inspired silhouette that follows the techy-looking mesh and textile construction of the era. To support the style’s release, the 3-Stripes has moved fast to enlist the help of Round Two founder and frequent collaborator Sean Wotherspoon for a couple of early releases, so here’s what to expect from the duo.
Set to drop three collaborative colourways overall, we’ve finally managed to get a good look at one of the pairs - the Sean Wotherspoon x adidas Orketro “Multi”. Taking on a layered construction, the shoe features a mesh base, as well as canvas and corduroy panels (typical of Wotherspoon) and dynamic raised stitching. Three Stripes branding stretches towards the toebox, and Wotherspoon’s signature touches can be spotted on the co-branded tongues and embroidered toebox. Underfoot, colourful sculpted adiPrene + midsoles come topped with rubber outsoles.
Peep a good look at the “Multi” Sean Wotherspoon Orketro that's set to drop on the 19th January right here, and stay tuned for imagery of the accompanying colourways as they’re all set to release in the coming weeks.
Up next, BAPE and JJJJound are dropping a new BAPE STA colourway.
