Picture this: It's 1995 and Michael Jordan just returned from a very brief hiatus. Squaring up against the Orlando Magic at the Eastern Conference Semifinals, MJ's got a pair of never-before-seen sneakers on foot - the Air Jordan 11. Designed by the one and only Tinker Hatfield, this was the first basketball shoe ever to feature a patent leather overlay. Now, fast forward 25 years and the Air Jordan 11 Adapt has just been unveiled.
Celebrating the silhouettes massive milestone, the AJ11 Adapt follows in the footsteps of other self-lacing sneakers such as the Adapt Huarache and the Adapt BB 2.0. Arriving in a crispy clean colour scheme, the overall design keeps inline with the OG but with a few futuristic touches here and there. For instance, see-through panelling graces the lateral and medial side panels for a space-age feel, while the classic lacing system has been replaced with thin strips that tighten and untighten with the touch of a button.
As with previous Adapt sneakers, this one features a built in motor within the icy Nike Air midsole. Two buttons let you adjust the shoe with ease, but it also works with your smartphone and smartwatch as well. To charge them, they come with a wireless base where you just set your shoes on top and they'll get juiced up instantly.
Set to launch on December 30th, the Nike Air Jordan 11 Adapt is the perfect balance between the past and the future. Let us know what you think of this sneaker, and in related news, leaked images of a Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG have surfaced!
