At this point it's become quite clear that the upcoming Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5 is still a work in progress. First leaked back in May with a look that was almost exactly like the OG pair, another version surfaced just a few months later complete with a taped toebox that mirrored industry-standard work boots. Now, as we begin a brand new year, yet another iteration of the contemporary artist's signature shoe has appeared, and this time it borrows elements from the Beaverton brand's ACG line.
Spotted on the streets of SoHo rocking this pair, this 2.5 variant features a semi-translucent base with earthy tan suede overlays throughout. Signature red accents make their way to the heel pull tab and Nike Swoosh, and you'll also find that the toebox has been done up with a black rubber cap that is inspired by a previous version of the shoe.
Of course, the star of the show here is the midsole that's taken straight from the ACG Mountain Fly. Primarily a hiking shoe that was introduced under the All Conditions Gear subdivision, it was designed by Nathan Van Hook and made its debut at the end of last year. Featuring exaggerated traction underfoot, it's also infused with a light carbon fibre FlyPlate which offers a snappy sensation with every stride.
Pretty much nothing else is known about this Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5, but here's hoping that they drop sooner rather than later. Keep it locked at The Sole Supplier for more info as it develops, and in related news, the Nike Dunk Spring 2021 Collection has been unveiled!
