Updated 31st July, 2025: After weeks of anticipation, Nike finally confirmed the release date for the Air Max 90 Racing Orange. It drops on Nike.com on 18th August, priced at £135.
Original story: Nike is poised to reignite its long standing affinity for motorsports with the forthcoming Air Max 90 "Racing" pack, a compelling tribute to the high octane aesthetics of 1990s NASCAR. This release strategically coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 90, a silhouette inherently imbued with a sense of velocity. Designed by the visionary Tinker Hatfield, the original Air Max 90 drew notable inspiration from the dynamism of s ports cars, establishing a core design principle centred on visual speed. This "Racing" collection serves as a direct and fitting homage to this foundational concept.
Fast forward to the present, and Nike's hitting the gas with a "Racing" collection that's straight up nostalgic for those roaring NASCAR days of the '90s. First out of the pit lane? This "Total Orange/Vast Grey" banger, ready to burn rubber right into our summer rotation in 2025.
Nike kept that classic AM90 silhouette we all know and love, but cranked up the velocity. That sharp, speedy look gets an extra edge thanks to a stealthy black mudguard and midsole. Up top, we've got that breathable perforated white leather playing off some buttery "Vast Grey" suede; a combo that just screams premium. That "Total Orange" pops on the Swoosh, tongue tag, and that iconic "Nike Air" heel branding.
The details that put the pedal to the metal on this "Racing" theme. The carbon fibre window on the mudguard is a proper nod to those speed machines. And the cherry on top? Those insoles sporting a NASCAR esque "90" graphic.
This "Total Orange/Vast Grey" speedster is just one half of this upcoming "Racing" duo. Word on the street is we're also getting an "Iron Grey" colourway that's got some serious "Purple Pigeon" Dunk inspiration.
The Nike Air Max 90 Racing Orange are set to drop on 27th June for £135. Make sure you smash that bell icon and we'll make sure you're the first to know when these drop.
