No strangers to each other's design language, Nike and UNION Los Angeles are seemingly back and ready to continue where they left off in 2023. Choosing an American football silhouette as their muse, the duo is now seeking to refine the Field General with a fresh and updated aesthetic.
The Field General, for many sneakerheads, is an unknown entity, and good reason. Launching back in 1982, this silhouette was with football quarterbacks in mind and has never particularly been considered a fashion staple. With that said, this latest take is vastly different from the original silhouette.
Ditching the classic cleat-like tread underfoot, we see the duo reimagine this retro model with a new midsole and panelling. Retaining the original mesh underlays, the OG's classic white leather has been swapped out for what looks to be a suede finish. Shades of brown, beige and red work in unison to deliver nothing short of an eye-catching finish.
No official word has been given on when this model will be released, so for now enjoy the leaks courtesy of @kicksaluoluo2. Up next, the Travis Scott x Jordan Jumpman Jack appears in a "University Red" colourway.
