Lavelle’s very own UNKLE label has released countless mixtapes over the years, with 1998’s “Psyence Fiction” and it’s Futura-designed album cover becoming an instant classic.
Alongside musical ventures, UNKLE has also collaborated with Nike SB on both a high and lot-top version of the highly-coveted Dunk silhouette. The aptly titled Dunkle is now ultra-rare, very occasionally popping up on the resale market for well over retail price.
Throughout the interview he also discusses his long standing relationship with A BATHING APE founder Nigo in-depth. The duo originally bonded over music and came to be great friends, eventually teaming up to launch an UNKLE-themed Bapesta. Once again, the collaboration was super-limited and is now a grail for streetwear collectors across the globe!
If you’re not yet familiar with the work of James Lavelle, we suggest reading up as you’ll definitely end up learning more about the world of streetwear along the way. While you’re here, check out the Air Jordan 1 “Game Royal Toe” that’s set to drop this weekend!
