If you’re reading this, we hope you weren’t one of those sneakerheads who sent Virgil Abloh Bitcoin for a pair of Off-White x Nike SB Dunk Lows, because his Instagram was just hacked. Yesterday evening, the Louis Vuitton Artistic Director’s IG account asked followers to follow a new account by the name of @hype_______beast, stating that he’d unveil a brand new Off-White shoe if it reaches 200,000 followers.

As we mentioned before, “he” also asked people to send him $5,000 worth of Bitcoin for an early pair of Off-White x Nike SB Dunk Lows, which were unveiled ahead of Off-White’s Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 show earlier this summer. When asked if he was being serious, the hacker answered, “Only few have access, it’s something that we wanted [to] do and see how they resell and etc.” That doesn’t sound like the eloquent fashion designer we know.

The real Virgil Abloh quickly regained control of his account, removing all the bogus posts and posting on his Instagram Story with “account was hacked. now it’s chill.” Now that’s more like it. What do you think of this crazy situation? Do you know anyone who was a victim of this? Let us know what your thoughts are, and while you’re here, take a look at the full Nike sneaker range!
