The world has lost an icon. Yesterday, the man who helped propel Marvel into the entertainment giant it is today passed away at the age of 95. Playing a massive part in creating beloved characters like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Spider-Man, Stan Lee became a legend in the world of comics, and indeed, the world as a whole. To celebrate his incredible legacy, we've decided to ask, "what if your favourite Avengers were sneakers?";
adidas Originals NMD TS1 'Triple Black'
Stealthy and ready for anything, the adidas Originals NMD TS1 'Triple Black' is the perfect sneaker for Black Panther. Featuring a Gore-Tex infused Primeknit upper for a versatile fit, this Nomad is painted in a murdered out colourway. Doing away with any conventional lacing system, the 'Triple Black' adopts a cord lock approach for the ultimate lockdown fit.
Nike Air Max 97/BW 'Black Hematite'
Sleek and sophisticated, the Nike Air Max 97/BW 'Black Hematite' blends the old with the new, just like Black Widow. Fusing the Air Max BW upper with a full length Air Max 97 sole unit, this murdered out crep is the perfect pair to rock for those short days and longer nights. 3M reflective detailing also gives it a mysterious vibe too.
Nike Air Max 1 'Navy/Sail/Team Red'
Red, white, and blue and all-American, the Nike Air Max 1 'Navy/Sail/Team Red' it the ultimate sneaker for Captain America. Oozing with patriotic vibes, this classic sneaker is crafted from mesh and nubuck, and features a durable gum rubber outsole down below. A patch of leather on the tongue gives this shoe a vintage look, just like Steve Rogers himself.
adidas Originals Kamanda 'Base Green'
Gamora would love the adidas Originals Kamanda 'Base Green'. A shoe unlike anything currently on the market, it's dressed in an olive green suede with a contrasting hit of white luxe leather landing on the heel. Gold foil branding is present along the side panels for a premium look, whilst an eye catching, almost alien-like rubber sole unit features down below.
Nike Air Force 1 'Ale Brown'
I. Am. Groot. Even though he can't say it, Groot would love the Nike Air Force 1 'Ale Brown'. Blending in and standing out, this sneaker would feel at home in any forest, with a full camo upper and a stealthy black Air-infused midsole. Rugged and ready for action, this is the perfect sneaker for the talking tree.
adidas Originals Prophere 'Cell'
Painted in Hulk's classic colour scheme of green and purple, the adidas Originals Prophere 'Cell' is as unique as it gets. Fashioned from tough suede and rugged leather, an almost radiation-like pattern graces the upper, harkening back to Bruce Banner's beastly alter ego. A crazy, thick midsole also makes this shoe a force to be reckoned with.
Nike Air Max 97 'Black/Gold'
If Iron Man had to pick any sneaker, he'd probably choose the Nike Air Max 97 'Black/Gold'. An absolute classic, this sneaker flawlessly fuses two of the model's most iconic colourways, and creates a shoe that is fit for Tony Stark himself. Crafted from premium leather and breathable mesh, hits of red give the shoe the ultimate Iron Man vibe.
Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit 2.0 'Golden Beige'
Lightweight and flexible, the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit 2.0 'Golden Beige' is the ultimate sneaker for Rocket Racoon. Although his size might not be available, with his expertise, he'd probably be able to fashion a pair for himself. Boasting a full length Air unit, a breathable upper and synthetic uppers makes this sneaker the perfect everyday runner.
PUMA Thunder Spectra 'Burgundy'
Paying homage to collaborations from the late Alexander McQueen, Scarlet Witch would definitely cop the PUMA Thunder Spectra 'Burgundy'. Flawlessly fusing sports and fashion to create a sneaker that is unlike anything else, this shoe boasts a moulded TPU system which offers additional structure and support, and is crafted from dark red premium mesh and nubuck.
Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit 2.0 'Team Red'
The most iconic Marvel superhero deserves one of Nike's most iconic sneakers. Perfect for Spider-Man himself, the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit 2.0 'Team Red' boasts an almost web-like Flyknit upper, painted in a deep red hue. Black accents mimic the Web Slinger's spider emblem, and a full length Air unit means these are comfortable whether you're walking the streets of Manhattan or battling your greatest enemies.
Star Lord needs the Nike Air VaporMax Flyknit Utility 'Team Red' in his collection. Perfectly complementing his signature red jacket, a cord lock lacing system offers the ultimate lockdown fit while he's floating around in space.
Nike Air Max 97 'Black/Silver'
While he's not wearing boots crafted from mythical creatures, Thor should probably cop the Nike Air Max 97 'Black/Silver'. A combination of two of the model's most iconic colourways, the God of Thunder needs to start his sneaker collection off with this. Crafted from premium leather and breathable mesh, hits of red can be found throughout, mimicking the demigod's signature cape.
Nike Air Max 97 'Jacket Pack'
If the Vision had to buy a sneaker, it should be the Nike Air Max 97 'Jacket Pack'. Dressed in the android's iconic colour scheme of deep purple and green, there's absolutely no debating that these should be its first crep. Accents of yellow feature throughout, inspired by the Mind Stone embedded in its forehead.
