Lorenzo Federici, the London based designer behind Lorenz.OG has been consistently delivering unique, identifiable pieces through his signature Patented Colorschemes. His newest project with Umbro Japan and BEAMS feels like a proper deep dive into personal history. The forthcoming Japan exclusive capsule, "The 12th Man," stands as an eloquent tribute to Italian football culture, specifically drawing its energy from Federici's lifelong commitment to SS Lazio.
Federici builds a visual dialogue using Umbro's archives and his own unique approach to colour. He craftes the range; comprising three jerseys, three tracksuits, and one quarter zip; by blending Umbro's precision detailing with reflective 3M embroidery.
The colour palette finds its origin in the tones of Lazio’s heritage, merging those hues with the designer’s signature gradient effects. There’s inspiration drawn directly from the dusk light falling over Castel Sant' Angelo, connecting the collection to a sense of the transcendental.
The collection anchors itself to the number 12. This choice holds real weight, representing the fans; the "12th man"; whose presence fuels the game. Federici elevates this meaning by acknowledging the theological significance of the number 12, symbolising unity and devotion in sacred tradition. Every garment becomes a quiet study in reverence for the game, community, and the creation process itself.
Now here’s why you might not be getting your hands on this collection. Japanese retailer BEAMS curates the entire project, ensuring this celebration of history, design, and atmosphere remains strictly limited to Japan. Football enthusiasts will need to make the pilgrimage to a BEAMS pop up in Tokyo between 7th and 9th November to secure a piece.
For a designer who has built his reputation on specific materials and proprietary dyes, partnering with Umbro, a brand that embodies grassroots football from Wembley to the Maracanã, makes complete sense. Keep following The Sole Supplier for more.
