Ever since the pandemic changed all of our lives for good, joggers, leggings and sweatpants are playing a more important role in our wardrobe than ever before. Lots of us have decided that comfort comes before style, but we definitely choose to have both if the outfit allows it! Working from home, binging Netflix and the weekly food shop all call for a pair of sweatpants, so move over jeans, there's a new wardrobe staple in town. If you're not quite sure on the best way to start rocking your joggers outside the comfort of your own home, then keep locked in, as we'll be giving you the low down on how to wear joggers and what to wear with joggers. Never fear, as styling joggers has never been easier! Retailers are fully aware that we're all opting to buy comfortable loungewear that takes on a more street style approach, so there's plenty of options when it comes to styling casual outfits.
It's likely that joggers are now an essential part of your wardrobe. Gigi Hadid and Kylie Jenner have proved this! We can't even count on our fingers how many pairs of sweats we've purchased since the beginning of COVID, but it's a lot! Jogger outfits don't have to be lazy, however. They're perfect for every season and depending on the thickness and design of the joggers you can be as warm as you want in the winter, or as cool as you need in the summer. Jogger shorts are also a great invention!
In this article, we'll be taking a look at some of our favourite jogger outfit inspiration and giving you tips and advice on how you can achieve the same look. Not sure where to buy the items in the image? We'll outline the best retailers to look at for the best jogger outfits and pick out items that allow for endless versatility no matter the occasion or the season.
We're sure you'll be well aware that Instagram is the best place to find that all-important outfit inspiration. From the sporty to the street-style, to the more smart-casual (yes it is possible, even in joggers!), everything that's trending right now you can find over on IG.
"Athleisure" is the latest phenomenon taking over the 'gram, with lots of independent, smaller brands creating logo-centric, cute and sporty co-ords that look great. As well as this, however, are companies such as Sporty & Rich and Pangaia are providing sustainable tracksuits for adorable yet guilt-free shopping. Yes, these pieces are more pricey. However, they are totally wearable, versatile, and will last you a lifetime.
Fed up of getting dressed up for the office and feeling uncomfortable all day? It is possible to use certain styles of joggers and sweatpants that look smart, but do deliver when it comes to comfort. Our advice? Opt for joggers that are slightly more tight-fitting than those you'd wear around the house. Leggings work well for this too. Ditch the denim jacket and go for an oversized Blazer. You can buy super affordable, yet luxe styles in places like Zara and Mango.
Chloe has opted for a woollen jogger co-ord from Zara with a matching coat and loafers. These really add a touch of class and could definitely be worn in the office. If you're brave enough, you could brave a button-down shirt, slim fit black joggers and an oversized black blazer for ultimate office comfort.
From bomber jackets to leather jackets, there are endless possibilities for how you can rock jogger pants throughout the winter. An obvious choice seems to be the puffer coat, a staple in every girl's wardrobe throughout the cooler months. However, have you thought of taking it up a notch with a trench coat or a quilted rider jacket? As you can see, opting for a neutral-hued co-ord with a matching coat works wonders, but more on this later.
These are both super casual looks that have been elevated to the next level with gold jewellery and designer accessories. Of course, this is not the only way to achieve this look. You can find some real quality accessories from the likes of Topshop (now on ASOS) and independent brands on Etsy. When it comes to outerwear, layer up with long sleeves, turtlenecks and hoodies to conserve your warmth on those chilly winter walks.
A pair of joggers, by nature, are sporty. It's easy to take a more street-style, sporty approach when you opt for brands such as adidas and Nike for your outfits. Double up by using your sports bras as a crop top, or just go for the humble plain white tee! Paired with these New Balances, the outfit looks super sporty and as if Danielle has just come from the gym. The Nike cap helps to add a sporty element to the 'fit as well.
We personally think New Balance 530s are the perfect way to add that gym-ready look to any outfit, and it helps that they are SO comfortable. If you don't have a pair, you need some to style with your sweatpants ASAP!
First up, you're going to need a cross-body bag or tote to complement your ensemble as well as help you pick up your shopping. Head over to ASOS or Stüssy for some nice accessories and bags. Ruby has the sought-after Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette bag (we're obsessed!), but there are so many dupes available online. Ego over on ASOS are amazing at this. Paired with a t-shirt and sherpa jacket, this is one seriously nice outfit for those Christmas shopping trips... or January sales! You gotta treat yourself, right?
It goes without saying, but colour blocking is almost what joggers and sweatpants were made for! We love how Charlotte has paired her co-ord with these Dr. Martens Jadon ankle boots, something a little different from what we've seen previously but it works so well!
Remember, just because you're in sweatpants doesn't mean you have to wear trainers. There are so many other footwear options that would look equally as amazing. Again, paired with a couple of necklaces and rings, this look has gone from couch potato to "girl about town" in only a couple of steps.
Date night doesn't always have to be a little black dress! @lissyroddyy has gone for a different type of material instead of a jersey jogger - a great way to elevate your sweats - and matched them with a classy set of bold-coloured heels. Pairing the heels with a bright and correspondingly coloured bag gives the outfit a thought-through look. Similar to what has been seen previously, the leather trench is both practical and stylish, and makes the outfit look expensive af.
FYI - the joggers are Missguided, the trench is ASOS and the heels are Zara. All perfectly attainable. Perfect for date night.
Caitlin works the edgy outfit so well, and there's no reason why you can't copy! Acid-wash joggers work exceptionally well with the edgy look, as well as a pair of Doc Martens as we've seen previously. Oversized leather jackets are such a staple for your wardrobe, so whether you're rocking one with a pair of joggers or not doesn't matter - you need one!
Caitlin's joggers are 'Weekend Collection', a sub-brand of ASOS, and they come with a matching t-shirt and zip-up hoodie, if that's more your vibe.
All in all, why should you ever wear jeans again when you can make joggers look so good for any occasion? Loungewear is the go-to look for the '20s, so make sure you're part of the movement and not getting left behind. No longer having to sacrifice comfort for style, sweatpants are a staple in our wardrobe and they're not going anywhere any time soon.
