It's no secret that Travis Scott is 2021's king of sneakers. After dropping two ultra hyped Air Jordan 1s earlier this month, the acclaimed rapper is now back with not one, not two, but five Air Max 1s - and we're now taking our best look yet at the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 "Wheat"! While this particular collaboration has been shrouded with controversy, especially due to a particular element of the AM1, there's no doubt that hype levels are on the rise for these!
Painted in a vibrant all-yellow colour palette that kind of reminds us of the "Lemonade", La Flame's take on the legendary silhouette is as premium as it gets. Working on top of a ballistic mesh base, premium leather panels wrap around the entire shoe for luxury aesthetic that is made to turn heads.
The lateral Nike Swoosh has been inverted just like on the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High "Dark Mocha" from 2019, and dark teal hues descend upon the thick rope laces and ribbon eyelets - the latter of which extends all the way to the back to act as a pull tab. A newly designed rubber "CJ" emblem can be found on the tongue as a nod to "Cactus Jack", while little flags are stitched at the heel for a Boy Scouts-inspired vibe.
As mentioned in the introduction, the controversial feature here is the blocked out Air bubble which is one of the Air Max 1's define features. This has been coloured over in a complementary yellow hue that's unlike anything we've seen before. To round it all off, the black rubber outsole is embellished with "CACTUS CORPORATION" and decked out in the same pattern that you'd find on the inner layer of the Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low from last year.
Set to drop alongside four other colourways including the "Baroque Brown", "Grey Haze", "Off Noir", and "Saturn Gold", the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 "Wheat" will release sometime towards the end of the year. Let us know which colourway you're feeling the most, and while you're here, you might as well take your first look at the Next Travis Scott x Air Jordan 6 "Cactus Jack"!
